Sustainability strategy

No premium without sustainability.

This is a translation. The German version is the wording on which our certification is based and takes precedence in the event of any discrepancy.

Corporate vision

As a transport company, we aim to demonstrate that sustainability and mobility go hand in hand. Our vision is to make a significant contribution to the sustainable transition by 2030. In doing so, we are focusing on our fleet, which is set to become climate-neutral. We aim to achieve this goal through the increased use of renewable energy, utilizing alternative drive systems and fuel technologies.

We are placing a further emphasis on energy efficiency in our offices. A sustainable office is our vision for 2025.

Sustainability mission

No premium quality without sustainability—that is the guiding principle of VIP-Bus Connection GmbH & Co. KG. We are committed to sustainable practices out of conviction, as this ultimately boosts economic performance while protecting the environment.

We aim to take responsibility and look to the future. As a provider of coach transport services for travel groups, we are committed to keeping both CO2 emissions and fuel consumption per person comparatively low relative to other types of vehicles.

Acting sustainably, leading staff responsibly and managing materials with care for resources are firmly anchored in our business strategy, which is guided by the four classical pillars of sustainability: environment, economy, society and GRC.

Sustainability strategy

We assign our measures to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Environment

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

In our business premises we use LED lighting with demand-based switching.

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

Signage improves waste separation and drives the reduction of residual waste.

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality EducationUN Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

By using efficient technology in dishwashers and cisterns we save water and raise our employees’ awareness of the topic.

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and SanitationUN Sustainable Development Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

Our in-house washing facility is state of the art and recirculates the wash water for the buses.

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

By 2025 we will convert our office into an almost paperless office through digitalisation measures. For the print jobs that remain, the target is a reduction of 25 %. We achieve further savings through bulk orders of office supplies, while paying attention to ecologically oriented companies and buying from local retailers where possible. In addition, we have been using 100 % FSC-certified paper since 2022.

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate ActionUN Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

For our buses we rely on new technology, which allows them to be operated more economically. Alongside the in-house washing facility we have our own workshop at our depot, which reduces empty runs to external service providers. The filling station on the opposite side of the street (Hoyer) minimises distances, so that our entire bus fleet is ready for service without additional detours. The central location of the depot in Berlin-Tempelhof reduces the empty runs required to reach customers. We have also established a concept for sustainable mobility management.

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality EducationUN Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action

In accordance with statutory requirements, our bus drivers regularly complete driver safety training. We also offer advanced driving training (eco training), which practises fuel-efficient driving.

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and CommunitiesUN Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action

Thanks to its central location in Berlin, our operating site is easy to reach by public transport. In future we would like to use company travel passes to encourage our employees to make greater use of local public transport.

Society

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being

As a bus company we depend on our drivers. Alongside them, our employees are essential to a successful business. For that reason we make every effort to understand and respond to all interests. To this end we hold regular employee meetings and, besides economic topics, address aspects of sustainability such as fuel-efficient driving, waste avoidance and water saving. Employees who identify strongly with the company and are satisfied with their working conditions fall ill less often, resign less frequently and recommend the company to others. Regular team meetings and shared events such as summer parties and Christmas celebrations strengthen cohesion. We also try to find solutions for a better balance between working and private life (offering part-time work and working from home).

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities

The ground floor of our premises is accessible for people with restricted mobility. Parts of our fleet are already accessible and it is being converted step by step.

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education

We regularly offer our employees further training opportunities, some of which focus on aspects of sustainability (for example eco driver training). At regular intervals we provide training so that employees are informed about news and updates on specific topics (for example IT, sales, GDPR, first aid).

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

As part of a comprehensive stakeholder analysis, our stakeholders were identified by topic, and we maintain an active dialogue with them.

Economy

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

VIP-Bus Connection GmbH & Co. KG works with cooperation partners in order to offer our customers an even wider range. To maintain the satisfaction of our cooperation partners, open dealings and continuous exchange with them are very important to us. We are fortunate that our cooperation partners are located in the Berlin region, which saves us long journeys.

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

We have established structured complaint and crisis management and have staff trained in all safety topics, who are deployed as required.

GRC

  • UN Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-beingUN Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

For us it goes without saying that all obligations regarding occupational safety, health and social protection are met. We have a compliance policy which all employees must observe. New and existing employees confirm their compliance with the policy by signature. In the event of a breach, the incident is reported and suitable solutions are sought. Employees are instructed on updates to the policy and must agree to them in writing.
